Views, views views. Oh did we mentions views? The Wine Quay Bar is hard to beat when it comes to location.
This restaurant is located right on the Douro river making it a perfect setting to enjoy some wine and tapas. The prices are reasonable and the food is excellent. Outdoor seating with the amazing views are somewhat limited but the staff has a good system of giving everyone a “turn” when possible. This would not be a place to get a full meal but an excellent spot to drink some wine and pound down some tapas!

The Ode Porto Winehouse is an elegant restaurant that aim to give you authentic Portuguese food derived from local sources. The inside has historic stone walls that give the place a really interesting vibe. They do their best to keep everything authentic and almost take you back in time. For example, when you get to the restaurant you simply cannot open the door. There is an old school knocker you must use. Once you hit it, you are greeted by a lovely staff member (usually the owner) who will then explain why there is a knocker. You will have to go and find out yourself why!
The portions are great and the wine is fantastic just like pretty much every else in Porto. The place is a little on the pricey side but is very worth it for everything you get.

O Paparico is one of the priciest restaurants in Porto but it is also one of the nicest. The thing we love most about it is the unique interior, I will let this photo do the talking
It is hard not to feel classy when dining in this restaurant. The cuisine is top notch and the service is excellent. The portion sizes are not huge but the quality is superb. Expect to pay at least 100 euros per person. This is a very popular place with limited seating so you will need a reservation in most cases. If you have the funds for it we say try the place out!

Tabua Rasa is a moderately priced Portuguese style restaurant that serves tapas on sharing boards. A perfect place to have a glass of wine and share food among friends. The chorizo is to die for and the cheese is some of the best you can get in the area. Don’t expect a big portioned entree here. It is more for the experience and presentation.

Tapabento Trinidade is known for their amazing service, friendly staff and great food. Upon entering you will be greeted with a smile and feel right at home. The food is excellent and one look at their reviews will show you that to some, this is the absolute best restaurant in Porto. It is a little off the beaten path and can be slightly difficult to find but it is well worth the effort. Prices are great and a reservation is highly recommended.

If you are looking to eat a little more than a pastel nata or pao com manteiga for breakfast, check out Dama Pe de Cabra. Owner by a husband and wife team, people love going here for breakfast and brunch. Try some homemade pumpkin bread or maybe some fresh eggs, sausages and cheeses. The food is delicious and the prices are great. They have a nice outdoor eating area which we highly suggest you sit at if available.

In Portugal it can sometimes be hard to find vegetarian meal options. A lot of restaurants are accommodating but you dont have a whole lot of options. Enter an amazing restaurant called Essencia Restaurante Vegetariano. Even if you are not a vegetarian we definitely recommend you checking it out! The variety and thought that goes into these dishes is extensive.
They even have some meat options in case someone you are traveling with absolutely needs it. In our opinion though, everyone should give their masterful vegetarian dishes a try. It may be unlike any other food you have tasted.

A Bolina has a lovely atmosphere and great food. Oftentimes there will be jazz music playing in the background while you enjoy various tapas and fine wine. This places has entrees but is more known for their tapas. It is a bit off from the main attractions making it not so much of a tourist trap. Which gives you that authentic Portuguese feeling to it.

If you are looking for some inexpensive, fast and amazing food, you must try out Cervejaria Gazela. They are best known across the country for their famous hot dogs with piri piri sauce paired with fries and a beer. Besides hot dogs they have steak sandwiches, ham sandwiches and other fast food items. Although it is fast food, the quality is fantastic. It is a popular local place and is becoming a popular tourist attraction. With that said, be warned that there can sometimes be a wait.
